Abstract
A phlogopite-peridotite from the peridotite lens of Mt. Hochwart (Ulten Zone, Northern Italian Alps) has been investigated in detail in terms of major and trace (LA-ICP-MS) element compositions and compared to other phlogopite-bearing contact lithologies from the same outcrop and peridotites from the Ulten Zone. The sample records the infiltration of a metasomatising fluid/hydrous melt sourced from the subducting slab of continental crust. On the basis of the trace element composition of phlogopite, this study stresses the importance of this mineral as sink of both LILEs and HFS elements in the mantle wedge.
